Chez Weeds: How to Play and Tips
About the game
Pick roadside weeds and serve them at a French restaurant. How much can you save on ingredients before the critic notices? Get caught and you refund the meal, plus $30 in damages for every weed.
Weeds cost nothing. A dandelion might pass for Provençal rocket, or moss for Breton seaweed. Add more weeds and you risk getting found out.

How to play
- Press a weed and pull it out. Picking the first one starts a 15-second timer. The basket holds up to 12 weeds. Tap “To the kitchen” whenever you are ready.
- Drag ingredients from Weeds, Main or Garnish onto the plate. You can move them around and tap to rotate them by 30 degrees. Drag an ingredient off the plate to return it to the shelf and remove its cost.
- Choose a colour under Sauce. Tap for dots, drag for lines, or hold to make a pool. With Dust selected, tap or drag to sprinkle it. Undo removes your last mark.
- Take as long as you like to plate the dish. Check the cost and Weed risk bars, then tap Serve. The result shows your stars, the amount paid after discounts, ingredient cost and profit.
How results are decided
The taste score runs from 0 to 3 and comes from how luxurious the ingredients look. Plating adds one point each for Rim, Space, Cohesion, Overlap and Sauce. The total sets your stars. A taste score of 0 caps the result at one star.
The menu price is $180. Your star rating determines the discount.
| Result | Condition | Sales after discount |
|---|---|---|
| ★★★ | 7+ points | $180 (no discount) |
| ★★ | 4–6 points, taste score at least 1 | $120 ($60 off) |
| ★ | 2–3 points, or 2+ with taste score 0 | $60 ($120 off) |
| No stars | 0–1 points | $0 (full refund) |
| Caught | The critic spots the weeds in a random check | $0 (full refund), plus $30 damages per weed |
| Set meal | The portion-size score exceeds 55% | $7.80 |
| Empty plate | No ingredients on the plate | $0 (full refund) |
Empty plates and oversized set meals are decided before the weed check. Portion size is calculated from the size of each ingredient. Stacking them does not reduce it.
Profit is sales minus ingredient cost. Weeds cost $0. Real ingredients are charged by the piece. Each sauce colour or dust option costs $0.38 once per dish, however many marks you make with it.
Tips
- ★ Watch Weed risk before adding more
- A larger share of weeds raises the risk. A main ingredient, sauce and tidy plating can bring it down. Any dish with weeds still has a chance of being caught.
- ★ Bring the food together and overlap it
- Scattered ingredients lose the Cohesion point. Overlap the visible food to earn the Overlap point, and keep it clear of the rim.
- ★ Try three sauce dots
- Three or more dots earn the Sauce point. A long enough line, a pool or some dust can earn it too.
- ★ Check profit as well as stars
- Expensive ingredients push up your costs. Use the advice on the result screen to change the next plate, then see what happens to your profit.
FAQ
- Q. Can a plate made only of weeds earn stars?
- A. Yes. Weeds count towards the luxurious look, and plating is scored too. A high share of weeds also makes them easier to spot.
- Q. Will the same plate always get the same result?
- A. The star score stays the same for the same plate. A dish with weeds gets a fresh random check when served, though. If caught, you refund the full price and pay $30 in damages for every weed on the plate. Empty plates and set meals skip that check.
- Q. What if my ingredients cost more than $180?
- A. Sales top out at $180. Spend more than that and even a three-star dish loses money.
- Q. Can I play in Japanese or Korean?
- A. Use the language menu at the top right to choose Japanese, English or Korean.
