Hi, I'm hakairyuousinn (my X account).

I had AI try the ant colony game I'm working on, without seeing it beforehand.

My ant colony prototype: underground tunnels and the queen's chamber, with a warning about an approaching cat above
The prototype. Six seconds until the cat arrives

I gave it no instructions. It could only look at the screen, use the mouse and keyboard, and write up its thoughts afterward.

On the first try, it starved.
On the third, a “mysterious mass death.”

Reading the report didn't tell me why.
When I checked the numbers and the screen, starvation came down to the food balance. The mass death happened because a cave-in had cut off the food store.

If I'd fixed things exactly as the AI suggested, I'd probably have changed the wrong part.

The automated player the AI built was also too precise. It won more easily than a person would. That made it hard to tell whether my fixes helped, so I limited it to one action every 15 seconds.

I ask it for scores too. On the second try, it gave the game 7 out of 10: “I'd wishlist it and buy it for around ¥500.”
After more fixes, the third try dropped to 6…
